MASTER’S MESSAGE

Brethren,

The Trestleboard is prepared for the 2009-2010 year. It is extremely important that you print this out read it and study it.

Store it in your PDA, stick it on your fridge, mark dates off on your calendar, or store them on the calendar on your cell phone, whatever it takes. As this is my first order of the Lodge. Preparation plus opportunity equals success.

As you can see the year is going to be busy, especially in October. This year is going to be one of the most important years for Freemasonry. I and many of the other incoming Masters find that Masonry needs a new injection of enthusiasm and overall support for one another throughout the District and even elsewhere for that matter. The whole purpose of this is to motivate and educate new and up and coming Brothers; and to make Masonry more interesting for ourselves. It may be tiresome and difficult at times but all new fresh starts are this way. Just go and try to run 2 miles…pretty tough. But in a few weeks, after some effort, it’s a piece of cake. You get the idea. Let’s at least think the thought that this is possible rather than we may burn ourselves out. We all speak about needing new recruits or retention. Time for talk is over, now is our chance to move. The momentum is in our favor. The least you have to do is “show up”.

I am also calling upon all Past Master to assist in leading this charge. Your knowledge and experience is going to be needed district wide.

You know what you are capable of. You all are my inspiration for continuing on in Masonry.

Brethren who had a beef about this matter or that person who don’t attend lodge any longer; I ask that you review your Masonic obligations regarding this and please return to the fold. You know who you are. We do miss seeing you around. The Brethren who thought that Masonry wasn’t what you thought it might be, well I tell you , it is and much more, but you too can bring to Masonry what it is you thought it was. It’s all up to each and every one of us. Yes those Brethren who haven’t been here in 10 and 15 years…just come back once…say hello, tell us of your travels, you’re still paying dues…

All of you can make me successful this year and if I am successful then its Masonry that is truly successful. Let’s put some new thinking into this matter…a new fresh start. Let’s get Masonry back to what it used to be.

Fraternally,

*W\ Derick L. Otten
