MASTER’S MESSAGE


Greetings my Brothers,
We have an exciting opportunity ahead of us. As Mother Lodge to both District
Deputy Grand Master and the Grand Sword Bearer for the next two years,
all eyes in the District will be on us. It will be a chance for us to shine and
remind everyone what our Lodge is all about.

My goal for the coming year is to build on the unity and
fellowship that was encouraged by W.'. John Goodbred. We have
proven ourselves to be unanimous in the face of outside adversity.
Now we must focus on a more insidious challenge – ourselves. I fear
that many of us have become comfortable, complacent, perhaps even
stagnant. We attend dry meetings a couple of times a month and go our
separate ways. It’s high time for us to bring some heart back into our Lodge.

We have raised several new Brothers in the last five years. Where are they?
Most of them have gotten bored and left. They joined Masonry
out of curiosity for its principles but, once they were in, we’ve done nothing
to hold their interest!

I am fortunate enough to have a line of eager, ambitious officers supporting
me this year. We will be planning a number of social events throughout the
year, not only for meeting nights, but for special events. I encourage everyone
to attend these events, including the dinners held on the third Friday of each
month. These are not only an opportunity to support your Lodge and your Hall,
but they are also a chance to socialize and get to know each other better!

More details about upcoming events will be announced during the picnic in
July! I’m looking forward to an exciting, memorable and fun year!
If you have ideas for events, please contact me! Remember that you are Mount Zion Lodge! The success – or failure – of this Lodge depends on your participation!
